Network News

  • We are having our inaugural conference ‘Kaleidoscope’ on 5 June 2017. We look forward to welcoming all participants to the University of Edinburgh. It is shaping up to be a fantastic day and we hope it is the first of many conferences!
  • We will be co-organising the Feminist Research Methods Workshop for the Scottish Graduate School of Arts and Humanities on 19 June 2017. We will be having an introductory discussion lead by Dr Valerie Wright from the University of Glasgow, presentations on feminism and research from PhDs, and an afternoon of exploring the Glasgow Women’s Library and the projects currently being undertaken with wonderful archives available there. It is a great opportunity to meet other feminist researchers and think about exactly what it means to be a feminist in academia. Please join us!
  • We are looking for new committee members! PGRNS has grown so quickly and we would like to invite new members to join our organising committee. As a committee member you would be responsible for running the twitter/email account and blog (so writing a post or finding someone else to write a post) on a weekly rotational basis and for putting together a newsletter on a monthly rotational basis. So if we have six members (which we are aiming for) you would handle twitter once every 6 weeks and do the newsletter once every six months. In addition, you would help us plan events as well as find and apply to funding opportunities for those events. It is a great opportunity to meet other gender researchers, get experience running an academic network, and hopefully put some successful funding applications and event organising on your CV! If you are interested please email pgrnscot@gmail.com. Deadline for applications is Friday 30 June 2017 5pm with a start date of 1 September 2017 https://pgrnscotland.wordpress.com/2017/06/01/call-for-new-committee-members/
  • We’re happy to announce we have some bloggers lined up for the next few weeks, but remember we’re always looking for more posts so why not check out some of the recent posts and if inspiration strikes, please get in touch at PGRNScot@gmail.com.
