Kaleidoscope: Conference of the Postgraduate Gender Research Network of Scotland
5 June 2017
The University of Edinburgh
9am – 6pm
The Postgraduate Gender Research Network of Scotland (PGRNS) committee is pleased to announce a one-day conference to be held at the University of Edinburgh on 5 June 2017. The conference is generously funded by the University of Edinburgh’s Researcher Led Initiative Fund. The goal of the conference is to further develop a community of postgraduate and early career gender researchers across disciplines both within the University of Edinburgh as well as at other Scottish universities. It is hoped that this conference is the first annual PGRNS conference and that future iterations will be held at other universities across Scotland.
The conference theme, ‘Kaleidoscope’ underscores the inherent multiplicities of gender research and the possibilities of the unexpected and often complementary aspects of different angles and approaches to research on gender topics. The conference provides an opportunity for postgraduate researchers at the University of Edinburgh as well as postgraduates at other Scottish institutions to showcase their work and meet other gender researchers within Scotland. The conference will also provide gender researchers with an opportunity to discuss the future of the network and the ways in which PGRNS can continue to promote and share the work of postgraduate gender researchers in an evening roundtable discussion. Partial travel reimbursement will be provided.
We invite abstracts (c.250-300 words) from postgraduate students researching gender. The topics may include, but are not limited to:
|· – Gender and Power Structures||· – Gender and the Law|
